TOSRV – May 16-17, 2026
The routes will incorporate key portions of the traditional TOSRV course while also offering a flat alternative via the Paint Creek Trail between Chillicothe and Washington Courthouse.
All routes start/finish in Yoctangee Park, Chillicothe, Ohio.
Saturday’s route will utilize the legacy route on Three Locks Road between Chillicothe and Waverly; the return options will vary from a return on Three Locks Road or more challenging routes with an extra loop to the south and/or the return to the east of the Scioto River through Tar Hollow State Park. We’re also entertaining a gravel road loop in Scioto Trail State Forest.
Saturday looks like this:
58 miles (1,700 ft) Chillicothe to Waverly & return east of Scioto River & Richmond Dale
68 miles (2,700 ft) Chillicothe to Waverly & return through Tar Hollow
93 miles (4,100 ft) Chillicothe entire southern loop & return through Tar Hollow
100 miles (4,300 ft)
Sunday’s route will utilize the legacy route on State Route 104 to Circleville; the return options will vary from a direct return on SR 104 to more lengthy and hilly options through Tarlton, and Kingston.
Sunday looks like this:
50 miles (1,500 ft) Chillicothe to Circleville & return (short)
65 miles (2,000 ft) Chillicothe to Circleville & longer return
75 miles (2,300 ft) Chillicothe to Circleville & extra loop
100 miles (2,500 ft) Add Paint Creek Trail
An additional option to “build your own” – The Paint Creek Trail stretches 34 miles from Chillicothe to Washington Courthouse. Its a longstanding trail that few seem to know about. If you want to ride less then 50 miles, or stick to a flat trail, this is an option.
These options will appeal to a broad range of cyclists as a “Spring Training” weekend. Bite off as much as you want. Ride just the legacy portions of the routes for a taste of the old days. Or, tackle the new loops with more significant elevation gains (4,300ft or 2,500 ft!) than the traditional TOSRV route!
TOSRV: A Bucket List Cycling Tradition Since 1962
What began as a father-son adventure has blossomed into a beloved annual tradition for cyclists of all levels. For over 60 years, the TOSRV (Tour of the Scioto River Valley) has earned its place as a bucket list ride, attracting thousands of riders, and becoming the largest cycling event in the nation. It is a testament to the enduring appeal of this classic tour, which Bicycling Magazine consistently features on its “Bucket Rides” list.
TOSRV sparked the bicycle touring revolution in America. It is the oldest, continuing tour in the nation.
*TOSRV will be based out of Yoctangee Park in Chillicothe, Ohio in a “festival format.” There will be two days of cycling loops, with multiple distance and difficulty options to meet any cyclist’s spring training needs. We’ll utilize the most popular segment of past TOSRVs, Three Locks Road to Waverly. And, we’ll now be able to explore the best cycling-friendly roads and trails that surround Chillicothe.
