A Brief History
A Brief History
Founded in 1937, Outdoor Pursuits is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization devoted to providing inclusive opportunities for outdoor recreation and adventure. Our shared experiences promote health of participants, teach responsible enjoyment of the outdoors, and strengthen the community. We are best known for our bicycle mega-tours such as: The Tour of the Scioto River Valley (since 1962), The Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure (since 1989), and The Across Ohio Bicycle Adventure (since 1998).
What We Do
What We Do
We offer outdoor recreation education focusing on safety and technique, organize and lead outdoor trips, and train outdoor leaders. Our programs include self-propelled, noncompetitive activities like backpacking, bicycling, nordic skiing, and hiking.
Some of our events have fees that will help support the organization, other funds go towards philanthropic programs such as event scholarships and new member orientation programs.
Volunteer Programs
