The campground opens friday afternoon. If there is interest,  or  water  I  will  be  driving  out  friday  early. Otherwise friday evening. It has historically cost $10 to enter the festival, and $10 to camp. However in practice if you camp there, you will pay $20. Based on water and interest, this can be a down river, a play boating (my personal favorite), or even a creeking trip (If creeks in area become watered). Eating arrangements will be at each persons discretion. I usually bring something for one day, and eat out or the festival food the other night. There are not a lot of restaurants in the immediate area. The park, which serves as festival and campground (but only for this weekend!) also hosts a play wave that is lit up to all hours of the night. If you’ve ever wanted to play in the water at night, this is one of the safest and funnest ways to be introduced to night boating. This  will  be  based  on  water  and  interests  and  skill levels involved. The Stoney creek river is class III-IV.  In general, 4ft on the gauge is an ideal level and the run is somewhat easier than the Lower Yough, with more play, especially in the first couple of miles.   Contact Jimi Nixon crazykayaker (AT) gmail.com 614/279-9789

Did you do Kayak II School? And, the Cheat Narrows and he Casselman? Or, anyway meant to, or missed ne? Here’s another level II trip. We’ll tailor the river selection to the skills and tastes of the group that forms and water levels, somewhere in W. Va. or PA. Think, Slippery Rock, Dry Fork of the Cheat, Cheat Narrows, Casselman, etc. Camping is our style, eating in-camp or out, depending on whatever is available and floats your boat! It’s good to get in all the paddling experience possible on spring and early summer water while it lasts.   Call Jim or Janice at 614/747-1004 or 747/0400 or jimroeger55 (AT) gmail.com janicehogrefe (AT) gmail.com

Class 3+ paddling on PA favorite.  If  you  graduated  from  KII  School  and  want  to test  all  of  those  new  boating  skills  out,  or  you  just want  to  paddle  a  beautiful  western  Pennsylvania river, this two-day trip may be for you. The Lower Youghiogheny  River  in  Southwestern  Pennsylvania is  a  beautiful  tributary  of  the  Monongahela  and  at 2ft on the gage is mostly class III with a couple of class III+ rapids thrown in for fun. We normally stop below Swimmers rapid to eat lunch, relax or play on the flat spinning wave.
We’ll most likely stay at the Ohiopyle campground, though this could change. (We’ll provide directions closer to the trip date). Plan on bringing lunch for both  days  on  the  river.   Breakfast  and  dinners  will be eat in or eat out depending on your preference/
budget.  The  weather  in  June  is  mostly  warm  but storms can be unpredictable and bring much cooler temperatures, so be prepared to layer for a variety of conditions.  Mark Noltimier  noltimier(AT)guildassociates.com or mark.
