Lower Youghiogheny trip (class III+)
August 10-11(Sat,Sun), 2013
Time to have fun! The Lower Youghiogheny River in Southwestern Pennsylvania is a tributary of the Monongahela and at 2ft on the gage is mostly class III with a couple of class III+ rapids thrown in for fun. We normally stop below Swimmers rapid to eat lunch, relax or play on the flat spinning wave.
We'll most likely stay at the Ohiopyle campground, though this could change. (I'll provide directions closer to the trip date). Plan on bringing lunch for both days on the river. Breakfast and dinners will be eat in or eat out depending on your preference/budget. The weather in June is mostly warm but weather can be unpredictable and bring much cooler temperatures, so be prepared to layer for a variety of conditions.
