Introduction to River Kayaking
Saturday, June 13th
Want to explore river paddling, but not quite ready for whitewater? Curious about back ferries and eddy turns but too shy to ask?
Introduction to River Kayaking (IRK) is for you! This class introduces the skills you need to take charge of your boat and travel safely on Class I rivers. You’ll learn how to spot and avoid river hazards and how to use different river features to make paddling easy, relaxing, and fun.
Plan on a full day: ERK usually lasts for 8-10 hours.
It’s the weather that decides where we’ll paddle, though it will be somewhere local.
IRK is a great class for anyone who wants to do day trips on easier moving water, but it is not a beginner’s class. Before taking this class, students must have completed COP Kayak I, COP QuickStart Kayak, other equivalent class or have the appropriate experience.
Before signing up for this class, students are expected to be comfortable performing a wet exit and should have some very basic kayaking experience.
$65 for COP Members
$75 for Non-members
Kayaks are provided, along with other essential gear.
Please contact Tony Skrabak firstname.lastname@example.org about experience level requirements and any other questions you may have.
